Baby, Why Are You Cryin' So?

1986

Al Simmons

This sad but true story is dedicated to the father of all blues singers.

Baby... why are you cryin' so,

I've seen alot of sad people,

But I never seen no one so low.

The tears from your eyes

Are drippin' off your nose,

Like the morning dew drops

Rollin' off a rose.

Baby... tell me what i can do for you

If you don't stop cryin' soon,

You'll start me cryin' too.

I gave you a new diaper

It wasn't even wet,

I offered you milk and mashed bananas

And you ain't stopped cryin' yet.

Baby... why are you cryin' so

I've seen a lot of sad people

But I never seen no one so low.

I tried to make you smile

By tickling all the right places,

You got me walkin' in circles,

Givin you hugs and makin' silly faces.

I gave you your favorite blanket,

And still you continue to cry.

I patted your back

To get you to burp,

Now I'll sing you a lullaby.

Baby... I wonder why you cry,

I wish you could talk to me baby

And tell me the reason why.

Baby tell me what I can do for you

Baby tell me what I can do for you

Maybe you miss your mama

Well Lord I miss her too.
