Singin In The Bathtub

Magidson/Washington/Cleary

When I found the sheet music for this tune I thought it was a wonderfully funny song. I was sure I had a song that I could sing on stage without relying on props and sight gags. But I couldn't resist the urge and I ended up building a bathtub that I could wear around my waist. I sing the song while playing a white ukulele with a brush scrub attached to its back.  The shower sprays me with water at the end of the song.

Singing in the bathtub

Sittin all alone

Tearin out a tonsil

Just like a baritone

Singing through the soap suds

Life is full of hope

I can sing with feeling

While feeling for the soap

Oh the ring around the bathtub

Isn’t so nice to see

But the ring around the bathtub

Is a rainbow to me

I can yodel opera

Even while I scrub

Everybody’s happy

While singin in the tub

Never take a shower

It’ an awful pain

Singing in the shower’s

Like singin in the rain

Oh there’s dirt to be abolished

But don’t forget one thing

While the body’s washed and polished

Sing brother sing

Be my love for no one else can end this yearning

Reachin for a towel

Happy once again

Watching all my troubles

Go swirlin down the drain.
